Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Ha, ha!

But this did strike a chord in me because the message here is actually true- we do stow too much stupid plastic @!$%# that is really unnecessary to our lives. Also more stuff that isn't plastic- more like thoughts and words tucked away in a cupboard somewhere in our heart/mind.

Thanks for this racheldora :)

"None are built to last very long," Chen said. "That is probably so the Americans can return to buy more. Not even the badly translated assembly instructions deter them. If I bought a kitchen item that came with such poor Mandarin instructions, I would return the item immediately."

hah!

I gave up recreational shopping a couple years ago - not that I don't go on a binge occasionally - but it amazes me that my friends spend basically EVERY Saturday shopping at the mall all day! And a few times a year, unloading their used crap to the charities.

I guess it keeps the economy moving...

i know. don't get me wrong. when i am in the mood, and need something, i love to shop. but when i go home to visit family, that is the de facto "fun" thing to do. as if there is nothing else to do and enjoy. hiking, going for a walk even. nope, it is when are we going to hit the strip malls, shoe stores, grab some fast food, and head on to the higher end stores to drool.

since i was a kid i got cranky after about an hour. my mother always thought i was just being a brat. now she knows i am an adult "brat" b/c shopping for 8 hours drains my life line.

there are just healthier and happier ways to enjoy each other's company. what happened to just being together?

I've been told I'm no fun to shop with anymore - because I will drag around all day and unless I find a perfect something that I actually need I won't buy a thing. But I remember those days of buyer's remorse... you know you get home and look at the crap you bought and go 'what was I thinking?'
